Tales of Tolgard
Yugoloths, or historically known as daemons, are outsiders whose home plane is the Plane of Bleak Eternity, but who hold a dominant position in the Gray Waste of Hades as well as many of the other Lower Planes.
There are several dozen sub-types of yugoloths of varying degrees of power. Their progenitors are the ancient, diseased baernaloths. The yugoloth leader holds the title of Oinoloth, and rules from the Wasting Tower of Khin-Oin. Even this figure does not oppose the General of Gehenna, who has ruled since their race colonized that plane. On the other hand, yugoloths will act on their own without hesitation in the General’s absence.
Yugoloths may just be the most selfish and greedy beings on all of the outer planes. They often act as mercenaries for demonic, devilish, and other planar powers. They work well in these capacities since they take such pleasure in hurting others, but if a better offer comes they will betray their current master for another in a heartbeat. They have fought on both sides of the Blood War and sometimes fight on both sides at once. They also make good inquisitors and torturers, since they take such delight in others’ pain.
Yugoloths, in general, have several useful abilities that serve them well in their duties. They can summon another yugoloth to aid them in times of need, although who they summon may turn on them and attack, hoping for a reward from the summoner’s enemies. They also have several elemental immunities and resistances.
