Below is a list of some of the special abilities which are learned by a number of adventuring professions.
animal companion – The ability to call on of these animals to your side is common among rangers and druids.
arcane – Ex nihilo type of magic.
awaken – Ability druids have to bring out latent intelligence in animals.
divine – Deity-based magic.
familiar – The ability to call one of these animals to your side is fairly common among arcane casters.
favored enemy – Ability rangers get, becoming skillful at killing certain races and monsters.
frenzy – Frenzied berserker ability to fight harder.
lay on hands – A special touch healing ability usually done by paladins.
psionic – Psionicist ability to use a kind of mental magic.
rage – Barbarian ability to fight harder.
shapeshifting – Ability that druids and masters of many forms have.
smite – Ability to strike a mighty blow, usually against evil.
spontaneous casting – Casting spells without preparing them ahead of time.
trackless step – This supernatural ability allows druids to choose whether or not they leave a trail and whether or not they can be tracked.
turning – Clerical ability to influence undead.
wild shape – This ability allows druids to turn into animals and eventually plants and elementals as well.
woodland stride – This ability allows druids and rangers to move through the toughest undergrowth as if it was not there.
