Midday
Stepping out of the woods with a horrible roar…
Beast resembling a large reptile with a variable forest of heads on its long, slender necks.
Spelled up our artillery, warned the wagon, and wracked my brain as to what it is.
It is a hyrdra- creature known for its number of heads as its most effective method of attacking and removing a head generally begets another one.
Then it regenerated…
Our artillery managed to take it out pretty quick.
I sketched the creature.
Hitched up the horses to drag it out of the road.
Rest of the day was uneventful.

3rd day out of Parrish
Towards midday- a damaged chest that looks like it’s fallen off a wagon.
A pile of silver coins.
About 1000 sp.
Made it to Dakenhudiem in late afternoon.
We found the scribe Salerius.
(-10 pp from group loot to research the freemantle family and crypt out of Folly as well as the Sigils of the Wizards of the Forked Path.)
I only found one minor reference to the forked path
An order of wizards that have disappeared entirely- but they were based right outside of Inferno.
Freemantle Family Crypt- the majority of the remaining family lives in Folly. Pretty sizeable crypt in the region of Firefeather.

I’ve had to hire some additional help- I’m looking to create a company directly because the library is getting on my case for using their resources for gain.

Snake Handler Mishap- local one has a mishap- make is safe for the family to enter to recover the remains – silver tier.
Odd One – somebody came in and offered it up for anyone who can figure out how to do it.
This note with weird words on it:
A bunch of words that don’t make any senses to me- look like random letters.
A paragraph and a map.
The latter two seem to shimmer a little bit.
Go to a location within the city and input a sequence of words to the device that you find.

It does look like the common alphabet.
Lynette looked at the letter- it looks like a bunch of nonsense.
Cast detect magic and looked at it – does not detect as magic.

Lynette says what shimmery part.
Lynette grabs a scale and can see some writing.

The person who set up the job- the person would recover an item to bring back.
The person who dropped this off- he looked like- pretty plain looking.
Human- a little mysterious, I guess.
All the people who have tried so far have just stared at it.
Yeah, the guy was young.
He didn’t look like he was part of the working class.
He didn’t look like any of the type of people that frequent this place.
Snake shop – in the merchant district- couple of shops around with more exotic animals.
The map leads to the university district. Pretty far away from the merchant district.

I copy the notes and map.

Any Zagg alerts on the rest of the island at the moment- nope, looking green across the board.

We found the snake ship
Warning on the door: Danger inside- do not enter!
We cast all of the protection spells before heading in.
Staircase that goes up- snakes everywhere of various colors.

Our melees went in and started killing

Then we started to move them into their tanks- except for the violent ones which we killed.

A lot of beds and boxes, snake handler’s body.

A huge constrictor fell from the attic on Merry.

Almost got crushed to death.

Huge Snakeskin.

We went and reported the job was done.

Adventurer’s guild- reported success.

We got up and followed the map to the location, found the building- went inside.
Empty except a plaque on the wall.
Made out of bronze.
Lynette spoke the keyword in Draconic.

The plaque shimmers and disappears, revealing a weird looking box thing.
I grabbed the box.
Looks like it’s made out of some sort of Onyx material.
Elaborate inlaid gold on the side.
No seeming writings on it.
The box is not magical.

Head back to the guild.
That looks like what I was told to look for.
Hand the assistant guildmaster Mitchel.
Give you use of a private room to open it.
Here are your rings by the way…

The box was about 8 inches cubed.

Pulled it out – a letter.
I wasn’t sure when you might find this …
She’s going on a metamorphosis journey as she reaches the next phase of her development.
She will attempt to seek you out once she’s finished if she can find you still.
I’ve included the power supply with this letter
Place the runestone on the codex then the orb on the codex.
Stand back.
Things are so different than my source materials stated at this point- the big event that you were all intertwined with doesn’t seem to have occurred.
Free will choices can only account for some difference- can only assume that some external force has been applied.
I’m looking at my possible reasons for the deviation- it’s probably unrelated but the city reported a power consumption spike- if you made it to Glacerin or the Leenza mountain. Keep the codec until it stops working and give it back to me the next time you see me after that.
One last thing, the one you travel with Lynette- seems to be inexplicitly resistant to divination- you might want to inquire further.

The sigils of the Wizard’s of the Forked Path are believed to lie within the burial chamber of the three wizards that make up the order. This burial chamber is hidden between the two roads leading out of Inferno and can be found by taking both paths. The secret to accomplishing this to reveal the entrance was lost with the disappearance of the last surviving servant of the order and has been the main reason their burial chamber hasn’t been located yet. Relic and Artifact Recovery Enterprises, a company based out of Inferno has been seeking the sigils for a number of years.
