Session 77

Tharr’s rough notes:

We woke up and noted the town in the distance. Islands of rocks floated through the air.
Localized pockets of fire air.
Floating in various soups.

Keep taking 10’s towards the city. 16 ea.
Sailing through a narrow slot, a fire seed comes flying out and explodes in our faces. On both side, 4 figures emerge:
Tall, gangly figure- cross between an ogre and a frog.
Dropping fireballs among us.
I managed to extend our magical rock to connect the two islands and cast a healing spell on the party.
They hit us with another fireball and then a darkness spell of sorts.
I moved forward and cast Ebon Eyes on Zeff.
Race and species are native to this plane- the Slaad. Multiple versions, each more terrifying than the last. Middle of the spectrum. All green. No known weakness, resistances and immunities than

Killed 3 of them and then summoned one.

Session 76

Tharr’s Rough Notes:

There are spell effects on some people- magical armor, enhancement, shield and the like.

Garrath stands in line with the same broker as Crovellius was in line with.
Guant humanoid pulled into topknots with serrated ears.
Looking for Muinomednap – do not say that name out loud. There is a guy- he can help you.

Paid for an ‘address’ – 400 gp.
A set of symbols.
Don’t recognize the words- some of the symbols, not all of them- recognize from the portals.
The resident you are looking for- the opposite side of the road from the gate with these symbols.

People with visible enchantment effects on them…
Systematic progression of the symbols on the gates?
Int check: 20 – 2 of the symbols are already the same but the other three, not sure if they are getting closer or further away…
Every 20ish on of the symbols change- about a 10 minute walk.
Keep walking… after about an hour of walking, a third symbol matches up…

The first one hasn’t changed at all.
A door every 10 feet, no repetition

Perpendicular to our current path- the first symbol immediately changes.
We travelled in Zeff’s direction- down
After about an hour of walking- matches one through 4…
Relatively close to the edge of the ring.
After another 30 minutes, we find the exact portal.
Fairly elaborate residence on the other side of the portal.

Center of the ring- trade stalls. The further out we got towards the edge- an increase of the number of residences.
Knowledge architecture/engineering on the residence…
The light mostly appears to come from the up direction- it is starting to wane.
It doesn’t seem to register as anything extraordinary
It doesn’t seem to be practical- something doesn’t feel right to me.
Didn’t seem to really match a plane.

Garreth knocked on the door- a rather muted- like hitting a solid piece of stone.
No windows at all.
Circular half gem looking thing. It seems to oscillate after contact.
Voice from it say, “Whatyah want?”
Garreth answered with the name of the dragon.
He said, ‘Get it here’ and the stone door dissolved into the portal.

The portal is keyed to a plot of land that is not in the Gethzerai island city.

Don’t drop the weird, magical containment boxes next time…
Come out on a floating chunk of land that seems semi-stabilized. A portal open for about 15 seconds. Just an archway.
Brief random surges of elemental energy light the plane. View distance changes randomly. Vast distance- massive city floating city. No discernable night or day.
Key traits: gravity is subjective and highly morphic- randomness is affected by the people around it. Control a part by an exercise of the mind.
Large enough for a decent camp.

Morning of 29th

Continued to the Beastlands

Cast Windwalk and kept going
60 mph
Travel about 4 hours counterclockwise – the next one in the chain….
What paradise looks like. Fountains – sunnier. Flower pots and pools of deep pools…

Reminiscent of the Blessed Fields of Elyssium. So pleasant you may never leave. No law or chaos.

Moving around- we see… 4 more hours of travel- not sure if it’s right side up or upside down. Every couple of times you look at it, it seems to be upside down.

31 – Twin paradises of Byopia.

Two failed- but I cast resurgence twice.

Large group of people leaving paradise and heading out way.
Flat terrain around here.

I teleported to Byopia town.
Looking down on the ground when we come out of the teleport…

The distance to the ground is probably 100 feet…

The next city looks like…
It is getting darker- but it seems to be lit. Looks very much like a tower- a cone.
26 – not really sure in the dark. It looks really impressive…

We teleported to the glowing tower town. Most splenderous city.
Spiraling city that continues to go up into a great distance into the sky. There’s a single opening into the city – the roads go around. Buildings built into the pillar.
33 – reminds me of the Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia. The plane itself is very similar. City in sea of holy water. Grace and mercy are the rules. A general sense that randomness and chaos are not welcome.

The next town looks like… the next city is rather gray.

Morning of the 30th

I can get you into the mines and get you into one of the portals there.

We met – Hekkus Hammermace – he will wait a little while for us.
It’s official name is Sigil.
The only law there is the law of its ruler. Her name is The Lady of Pain. Few get to lay eyes on here unless she is arbitrating a conflict. Below here are philosophers with clubs.
Portals leading throughout the city.
The direction of gravity is semi-arbitrary.
Escape the gravity plummet down the spire forever.
Magic doesn’t work there. If you get to high off that ring, you will fall.
The deities are afraid of the Lady of Pain.

Extradimensional items will not explode, but you cannot access them.
Any items that are not actively using spell like effect will still work. If you attempt to us an item, it will not work.
As long as they are not replicating a spell effect when they activate, they will probably be okay…
We went through the portal.

Stepping out of an archway that the portal disapates from. Up, in the far distance, the other part of the curve. Everything seems to curve away from us.
To the right we see the edge of a spire that we’re floating off of and we cannot see the bottom.

Inspected the portal- what looks like a keyhold on the side of it. It looks like it would fit a very complex keyhole.
It seems like the portals are only being used when they are used.
Layout of the keyhold is the only unique thing.
Sketched the keyhole of the portal we came through.
Everypart of the city that isn’t a portal seems to be some sort of shop.
People who seem to having a lot of information exchanged or talking a lot.

Tall, gaunt humanoid with hair in a topknot.
There are ways to exit if we pay for it.

Kren 28th
Knowledge Planes – Not something I would normally see on my plane and does not look friendly.
Yelled to wake everyone up.
Cast shield of faith mass…

It growls move over…
Goes up to the fire and sits down. About 10 feet tall sitting down.

I saw your fire and I came over- apparently, I spooked you… So, I will take my tribute from you now. Place it in a pile when you have a chance.

Put the bottle of wine in front of him and the crystal skull.
Thomas put 5 copper coins and some beef jerky.
When the rogue drew his bow, the creature said that would do.
Getting you rocks off- a gentleman’s guide to rock collecting and a belt of mighty blows.

This area is near infinite in size-one dragon would be hard to find.
“Is this your native plane?”
Very few are native here.
“What’s up with that city there? (the one we are heading towards)”
That is plaguemort which is where I come from- you will find many like me there. I wouldn’t recommend going there unless you get a game plan… Acting the way you are doing out here…
“Are there other dragons beside the one we are after.”
The outlands are infinite in size. To say there are other dragons is an understatement. You’ll probably want to go up. (pulls a horse out of his satchel- starts roasting it on a stick over the fire.
“When you say up, do you mean the spire.”
That is the city of doors. It goes everywhere.
He says, this is what I’m talking about. You stick out. You have to blend in.
“How would you recommend we blend in?”
Act like you are supposed to be here. Don’t be afraid of everything.
“So we should have attacked you?”
I could tell, by the time I sat down, that you were afraid of me. You need to act like you are bigger and better.
“What should we call you friend?”
It’s a strange request to ask someone’s name. That would also be an indicator you don’t belong. But you may call me Kag’Draxan.
“Where are you from originally- home plane?”
I am from the plane that PlagueMort is intimately connected to- the Infinite layers of the abyss.
“Have you heard of Lady Azana?”
No, should I have.
Is she a high demon?
“Are there cities like PM
Yes, they form a ring all the way around- all equidistant. From the center and each other.
“When you say equidistant, do you mean the city of door?”
Yes. I would recommend you find one more friendly to your kind.
“What’s the closest city you would recommend we go towards?”
Probably your best bet is Xaos. Although be ready.
“What is Xaos?”
Xaos is tied to Limbo. If you can handle to chaos, that’s probably best.
“can you tell us which way?”
He points it out.
I would say see you later, but I’m pretty sure I won’t see you again.
Puts the horse back in his bag and leaves in a new direction.

New Day.
Bear man and Corvellius had no opinion
Both chance and Zeff thought Xaos. I agreed.
Altitude- see what looks to be a settlement about 200 miles away. What appears to be around the city- massive and very apparent storm weather. Swirling wind and dust. Wind based.
Looking back- towards Plaguemort- it looks abyssal. Charred brimstone, a lot of smoke coming out of it.
Another distance from swirly city is another city that looks – chaotic mess of chunks of land crashing into each other, twisting and morphing. In the other direction beyond PM – got tendrils of the earth warped almost into a shell or cage around it.

The windy city – reminds me a rough description of the plane of pandemonium.

Heading towards the spires.
The one way back… Looks very bland and gray. All the color and energy has been drained out of it. Could not tell what it was…

Crushing ground – Limbo
Constructed of hundreds and hundreds of statues, some of which have been destroyed. The main feature of this city- almost. Heroic Domain of Ysgard. Wages war and valor is proved. To approach this place- represent ourselves as heroes of battle.

After 6 hours of travel, start to notice the party is briefly starting to appear. Starting to seem a little more solid. Going through an opening in some mountains. No other animals or settlements. Occasionally see all manner of various humanoid style things.
Traveling on for another hour. Exited the mountain range- open flatness.

Noticed the distance from the spires when things started to get weird.

Understanding of planes- things are the way things are in each plane.

I had a dream- I am on a wheel that’s spinning- the closer I get the further it seems to get from me. I have a sense of hopelessness. Through all my efforts, the person I am trying to reach to help gets further away- and I awaken.

I was actually curious to see who or what was camping out here in the middle of nothing.

Considering the traffic around here, it’s hard to set down roots. If you aren’t in the outer spokes, things are a little odd.

Tell me of Azana – Moment, Reaction, Retribution

Wake up- red head woman was sitting there.
There’s only a certain number of ways here, and most of those are through towns.
Chance gave her a scroll.
“What city is friendly to good people here?”
If you are traveling this way- she points in the direction we are going.
Corvellius- a written note.
“Is there some sort of field around the central tower that disrupts magic.”
Magic drops off entirely when you get to the spire or anywhere close to it.
“Endra, have you seen any multi-colored dragons around here?”
That’s the thing. You don’t really want to draw attention to yourself here. There’s- I haven’t personally, but- that which you speak of would probably not want to be found unless they need to be found.
“If one were seeking said thing, where would one go to find said thing.”
All of the border towns both go back to their subsequent planes and to the city of doors. I think the city of doors is the best place to go. The longer you stay in a border town, you more you will stand out. You will need a key- it’s not like you can just find a portal. Need a key from a border town.

Cast wind walk- flew for two hours.
Then two more hours.
The next city – looks to be built from wood, like trees. Cities Olympian Glades of Arborea. The domain of elven lords- abundant in nature and patchwork glory.
Look back- the earth was moving- the city fell into the ground.

10 hours of travel gets us there…
Next city looks like- similar- looks like a cluster of trees. City size forrest. Consistent with the wilderness of the beastlands- forest eternal where faithful animals go. Plane with nature unbounded would be.

Session 73

Tharr’s rough notes:

Edge of the City – End of Day Kren 27th
Have until the 29th
Spellcraft on the column from the cathedral- not an effect I am aware of.
Aracana 31 – do not recall a spell effect that would be consistent with what I’m seeing
Religion 41 – nothing
Planes 33 – does not appear to be planar in nature
Nature 17 – appear to be consistent with a slow-moving whirlwind with extra darkness in it.

A lot of the people are very busy constructing new houses on the edge, or coming and going around the city towards the west.
As we move south- still people building on the buildings, but they are building up…
Does not appear to be any sewer grates.
Distinct smell of mud- most of the buildings are made of clay. Roads are mostly build of laid stones- relatively smooth.
Horses moving through the city- an occasional pile of horse dung
Fair amount of people cleaning up.
Almost all of it is basic- not too complex. Subtle as we progress- the clothing is getting better.
Don’t see anything besides housing.

Consistent with what I’ve seen in the cities on this continent- fair mix of other races- dwarves and elves

Fair amount coming and going- a mix of everyone
Architecture on catherdral – 38- nothing even close to this architecture
Crystaline- semi-opaque piece of crystal
Cast detect magic- the whole cathedral has a residual effect on it- Transmutation
The statues appear to be some sort of stone material
Wall around the cathedral is also made of stone
The stone – geography – not consistent with the region currently in.
No guards
The last couple of blocks around the cathedral- city is laid out in a circular- those buildings converted to closer to shops.

The portal- 28- not sure what plane.

Relatively open space. Can see on almost every direction. Rolling hills. In the distance, we see a ridiculous pillar – massively thick and cannot see the top of it. There does not seem to be any light source- no sun, no clouds- but it is lit.
Looks to be made from the ground (the spire) – there are clouds. This plinth is visible from anywhere in the plane.
The gravity appears to be normal. Probably many hundreds of miles from the center.
An open field- see a city off to the side that is further away.
Sizable city- many hundreds of miles across. Mountains to the left, chasm to the right.

Paladin is going to pray for an hour. Zeff is carrying him. Walk 8 hours- absolutely certain that you are a lot closer to the city than we should be.
Don’t see any people or animals.
It’s dark. No sense of a moon or anything.
Felt like we were 50 miles away. Now we seem to be 10 miles away after traveling 16 miles.

Session 72

Tharr’s Rough Notes:

I have the air stone
I got water from Chance
I got Earth and Fire from Garret.

Flew and placed the far two.
Then the second altar- placed the last two.
Clicking noise from the altar…
A wrapped-up satchel is in a compartment- both altars.
Inside the compartment, I see a satchel.
The satchels are not the same size.
Irregular shape in the two satchels. Leather satchel.
It seems to be 8 or 9 lbs.
Back to the second altar.
Carefully remove the second satchel- it weighs about the same.
I opened the far altar satchel- a smaller sack filled with gold coins, 2 fire opals, a dagger made of metal like the old hammer…
Garreth opened the second satchel- sack filled with gold coins, violet garnet, wrapped up tapestry made of fine wool and transparent crystal sphere, the size of a small plum, faintly glowing green.
The Paladin walked over and looked at the book- there was symbols on it…
I can’t read them either…
Upon the Paladin lifting the book up- there was a grinding noise…
The boulder grinding noise has stopped.
They seem to be gone…

It has changed color- instead of blue it is green.
Garreth threw a rock at the green thing.
Zeff went first… he disappeared…
I took the book and the Paladin and he went through the portal…
I poked my mace through the portal- it was stuck. I finally stepped through…
And the assassin was there…

Travelled to Azalia
Made it there right at nightfall on the 27th
The city is massive- do not see the gates. The edge of the city is relatively small houses. There are no gates.
Most of the city is relatively flat- you see what might be gates about halfway into the city. Jutting out of the center of the city is a massive, truly massive cathedral- statues on the edge of the cathedral.
There is a strange weather pattern at the centre of the city- clouds coming out of the cathedral.
At the edge of the city there is new construction.
The buildings share a mix of southern and northern Keshuna techniques. Everything outside of the city is completely void of vegetation.
I get an uneasy feeling looking at the city.

Session 71

Tharr’s Rough Notes:

IKren 14th
We faced off against a huge stone statue….
I cast what I could – saved my biggest buff, but recitation, haste, chompers, several heals, and some want action.

I sent chompers over to push open the door.
Used my belt up on garreth and my last potions.
Tapped everyone in the party with bull’s strength, Cat’s grace, and bear’s endurance wands.

Got past the stones…

Session 70

Tharr’s Rough Notes:

Kren 14th
Got back out- the doors had been pushed open towards us…
Out into the hall- gathering the rope into my bag.
Finished gathering my rope as an armored gorilla jumped out of a closet and attacked Chance.
Got attacked by 7 robo-guerillas

Finally managed to destroy them all so we all headed outside
I tried twice to get us teleported out.
Slept for the night- woke up and the assassin was gone

Got in- made an exit through the wall- and Garreth picked up the mountain.

Session 69

Tharr’s Rough Notes:

Giant wolf spider with silver white eyes.
I moved on and secured the grabbling hook at the end of my 200’ of silk rope.

Theft detected blares in dwarven

Most of the party ended below
Dealing with spiders like before – phase spiders.
We got through the door and headed up the stairs…

Picked up the cloud token

New door- pair of switches facing West

Session 68

Tharr’s Rough Notes:

Used a scroll, wand, and some potions to mostly heal up the assassin.

New person- an elf.
Seems to know about different kinds of potions.

I took a restoration potion and used my wand a couple of times- I’m back to full.

The assassin took some empty potion bottles and filled them with the Blue, the Green, and the Yellow liquid.
Gave the blue (clear) to the sorcerer.
Assassin threw the yellow (black) into the red pool.
The vial and liquid exploded, filling the room with a choking cloud.

I teleported away but the cloud advanced.

The assassin jumped in the yellow and got soaked.
Then over into the green since no air bubbles were coming up from the paladin…

Then Zeff went over to shake some yellow goo into the blue pool…
Started filling the room with blue foam.

I threw the smallest bead of a type IV fireball into the gas cloud
The gas ignites…
The foam protected Zeffbot
The paladin was under the green liquid not breathing…

The blue foam hit the red and the green- with the paladin still in it…

I dimensional doored over to the party, then got everyone around me and teleported out of the dungeon to the entrance.
The new elf disappeared in a mysterious cloud…

Then Garreth appeared and joined us.

Good night’s sleep and we headed back in.
Explored the other door from the entrance and found an open door leading to a large chamber.
Hit something and the whole floor shifted…
